This cancer patient was homeless, living inside a cage-like box near a busy New Orleans street.

Dear Friend,
When UNITY outreach found him, Roosevelt Mills Jr., 55 (who you'll meet in the one-minute video below), was sleeping outside in a space meant for a dumpster, despite his terminal cancer diagnosis, which has already resulted in the loss of one kidney and part of his lung.
He walks with a limp because of a rod implanted in his leg, to replace deteriorating bone.
He is one of a growing number of older people living on the streets of New Orleans. UNITY moved him into a modest hotel where our staff and our partner agencies helped him stay healthy and worked to get him into housing.
Next week, Mr. Roosevelt will move into his own small apartment.
Together, we can house all our neighbors.
Please house vulnerable people with a gift to UNITY at GiveNOLA, which runs now through May 6.
Sincerely,
Martha J. Kegel
Executive Director
UNITY of Greater New Orleans
